NOTE FROM PASTOR J R FOR SUNDAY, MAY 15, 2022
This Sunday is the 5th Sunday of Easter.
I love the assigned texts for this Sunday. They both remind us to “K.I.S.S. – Keep It Simple Sweetie: It’s Still All About Love.” The Gospel text says, “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” The assigned text from Acts shares how God dealt with Peter’s overthinking the application of this “loving one another,” thing.
A joke I came across this week could be a sort of a modern-day parable of this. “A teenager came home from choir practice early one evening. His Dad asked, “What brings you back so soon?” The youngster replied, ‘We had to call off choir practice this week. The organist and the choir director got into a terrible argument about how to sing, ‘Let there be Peace on Earth,’ so we quit for tonight.” … “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another”. Hmmm… As someone noted we need to remember: “We are judged by our actions, not our intentions. We may have a heart of gold, but then, so does a hard-boiled egg.”
Join us for worship this Sunday, IN-PERSON, by Zoom or Facebook Livestream. My sermon will be a reminder of the importance to “K.I.S.S. – Keep It Simple Sweetie: It’s Still All About Love.” based on Acts 11:5-10 and John 13:31-35.
