THE MISSION IS TO CARE ABOUT ONE ANOTHER IN CHRIST

This Sunday is the 9th Sunday of Kingdomtide. At 1 PM, Covenant will hold our Annual Congregational Meeting virtually; members please attend! During worship, I will continue with Part 3 of our October sermon series on Covenant’s mission statement: “We exist to: Celebrate the love of God; Cultivate a relationship with God; CARE ABOUT ONE ANOTHER IN CHIRST; Communicate Christ to all people.”

Some of the greatest examples of caring about one another in Christ can be seen in the actions of children. A while back a heartwarming photo made its round on social media that represented a perfect example of our Covenant mission of “caring about one another in Christ.”

On the first day of school 8-year old Christian, a little black boy, took the hand of Connor, a little white boy, to offer support because Conner was crying. Christian didn’t know Connor. He simply was caring about another little boy.

Christian’s mom was so proud of her son’s actions that she took a picture of the event and shared it on social media. Conner’s mom saw it and responded, “Tell your son I said thank you so very much! The little boy your son helped is my son and is autistic. (Connor was crying because he was overwhelmed by being in the middle of a large crowd of people.) I worry every day that he is going to get bullied for being different and your son, just absolutely warmed my heart. If there were more children like him, I wouldn’t worry about such things. He’s so excited to have a friend, He said to me. I love him.”

Christian’s actions toward Conner, knowing nothing about Conner’s situations shows us what our actions should be toward others when “The Mission is to Care About one Another in Christ.” My sermon this Sunday will be based on various scriptural texts. So, join us for worship Sunday by ZOOM or Facebook livestream at 11:30 AM.
